Getting Ready for Them

Made an unusual stop today up at P ms ...went to see the registrar and told her which summer school child I do NOT want in my class next year. Yes, I taught summer school (sigh) (for the money)... there was one student who couldn't understand that everything in the classroom wasn't placed there for her personal use. Somehow she would manage to collect pens, crayons, books, reams of copy paper... without permission and somehow without me noticing, and then she'd color or read. I'd collect the items back from her and give her a warning, and she'd do it again the next day. She'd look at me as if to say "How dare you!"
I definitely don't need a kleptomaniac in my class next year. The registrar promised me she would put this child somewhere else... we clashed as you can imagine. Yes, I'll let the teacher who gets her know about it all.
Ordered bulk pencil sharpeners and plastic rulers off ebay today, for less than $15. Should last me until December. Haha right.

Getting Set Up for Next Year

NEW SCHOOL YEAR/ NEW SCHOOL BLOG
I've been trying my best to relax this August... it's harder than it sounds, you know! Tomorrow I'll be going up to P ms to meet with the math team and Principal. We're in the running for a grant from the state. I'll also take a look at my room ...ah, the memories from last year... anyway..
Our WASL scores did not improve as planned so I'll be working hard again this year to help my students strengthen their basic number sense skills. First Areas of Concentration: memorizing the times tables; memorizing commom fraction, decimal, & percent conversions; long division; learning the characteristics of a Math Journal (do's and dont's); and learning my Special Painless Method of how to "re-do" work that is not up to standard. These units will be done before we tackle 7th Grade CMP.
